I'm going to a 1920's prohibition Swing/Charleston dance tonight in York, PA.

I'm SO excited. But I gotta tell ya, the main reason for my excitement is this:

My super amazing, ridiculously cool fringe-tastic dress that I splurged on 2 months ago.

I just can't get enough of it!

I'm practically bubbling with excitement!

The Store

I've been picking up and loving vintage ever since I can remember. While other girls were busy playing with their Barbies, I was up in my room playing with my antique cameras and typing letters to people from far away imaginary places on a typewriter I rescued from the trash at a flea market. Perhaps to some that's odd - but for me, it was completely normal.

The addiction to all things vintage started with weekend yard sales and grungy thrift shops and developed into a bona fide selling hobby. That hobby followed me through college where I used my dorm room as a studio to sell things on eBay & Etsy. I loved when people would walk into my room and see my Grandmother's antique sewing machine, a mannequin and a rack of clothes. It made me feel connected to the past somehow - like I was allowing these items to live on and continue to enjoy life in a "disposable" culture.

That hobby has followed me from my dorm room to my now two bedroom apartment that I share with my amazingly tolerable husband. Swell Farewell Vintage has morphed into what I now call my "part-time" business. For the amount of hours I spend hunting, collecting, gathering, washing, mending, picturing, editing, writing and listing I'm pretty certain it's gone beyond what can be considered "part-time" hours. ;) Along with my photo equipment, 6 mannequins and over 300 items of stock my house is in a constant state of "vintage explosion" and I love every minute of it.

I'm not sure where this vintage adventure will take me, but feel free to follow me on that journey!
